2008 Carling Cup Winners - Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Chelsea (After extra-time)

Jonathan Woodgate scored an extra-time winner to hand Tottenham Hotspur their first trophy since 1991 - when they beat Leicester in the same competition. The match was the first League Final to be played at the new Wembley Stadium.

Chelsea took the lead shortly before half-time when Didier Drogba curled home a fantastic free-kick. With Spurs struggling to make a break through, the Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge inexplicably handled the ball in the area, giving Juande Ramos' men a penalty. Dimitar Berbatov stepped up and sent Peter Cech the wrong way.

With the teams level after normal time the game went into extra time, and within just four minutes Cech giften Spurs the lead when he punched the ball onto the back of Woodgate's head followin a Jermaine Jenas's free-kick. Spurs held on for the win to end Chelsea's quest for an unprecedented quadruple.
